SEPT. 2008 - SLIGO FUNDRAISING

Carmen Gavin attended the NBCRI information meeting, held in the Radisson hotel Rosses point. And after speaking with Prof. Michael Kerin about her own fight with her breast cancer.

Carmen decided she would like to help NBCRI’s research work by setting herself the challenge of climbing Knocknarea Mountain in Sligo. And in August this year she did just that with her son Mel Gavin and her daughter-in-law Annemarie Flanagan.

Carmen would like to thank all who supported her and she was delighted with her own success in achieving her aim. she hopes people are now aware of NBCRI and the work it does for breast cancer research. Her daughter-in-law Annemarie has also run the flora mini marathon in aid of NBCRI.

Unfortunately on January 31st 2009, Carmen lost her fight with Cancer. NBCRI wish to extend our deepest sympathy to her family and friends and acknowledge the courageous efforts Carmen made to raise awareness and funding for Breast Cancer Research.

DEC. 7th 2007 - SLIGO NBCRI LUNCH

Friends of NBCRI Sligo held a fundraising lunch at the Clarion Hotel Sligo, on Dec.7th 2007. The lunch was a great success and the first of Sligo NBCRI's fundraising events with over 170 women lunching for the charity. Guest were treated to a pink champagne reception and a fundraising auction plus a wonderful fashion show by the 'Green Room', Sligo. Over €14,000 was raised for breast cancer research and a summer barbeque is now planned, watch this space for details.
